Wednesday, January 01, 2014 11:53 am
The Mad Ants have traded first-year forward Olek Czyz to the Canton Charge.“New Year & New Team!!, “Czyz tweeted today. “Thanks to Mad Ants for having me the last couple months!! Now I'm flying to LA as a Canton Charger!! #GoodVibes”

Ants president Jeff Potter said the trade is not official yet, but the Ants will receive a draft pick in return if the deal is approved as expected by the NBA Development League.

Czyz, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 9.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 11 games with the Mad Ants. He had a season-high 21 points in the Ants' 117-115 win at Iowa on Dec. 19. He also had 15 points and 10 rebounds on Nov. 22 at Texas, the protested game that will be resumed at the D-League Showcase next week.

Czyz played overseas last season after concluding his career at the University of Nevada. He played two seasons at Duke prior to transferring to Nevada.

The Mad Ants (6-7) play next against Iowa at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Coliseum.
