Tony Mitchell, last season's NBA Development League Rookie of the Year with the Mad Ants, has returned to Fort Wayne to rejoin the team.
Mitchell, who started the season playing abroad, is awaiting clearance from FIBA, the international governing body, before he can join the roster.
It's not certain whether he'll be cleared in time to play for the Ants in their game against Iowa at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Memorial Coliseum. If not, he would likely be available for the team's games at the D-League Showcase next week in Reno, Nev.
The Ants traded Olek Czyz to Canton for a future draft pick to make room for Mitchell.
Mitchell finished second in the D-League in scoring last season, averaging 21.9 points per game and scored a league-high 49 points in one game. He also averaged 6.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
The Ants already have another player on the roster named Tony Mitchell, a forward on assignment from the Detroit Pistons.
