The News-Sentinel sports staff will feature a different verbally committed player for the four NCAA Division I football programs (Ball State, Indiana Notre Dame and Purdue) in Indiana leading up to National Signing Day on Feb. 5.

Here is today's Indiana featured commit:

Position: OG

Hometown: Avon, IN

Height: 6-foot-5

Weight: 330 pounds

Commitment date: June 8, 2013

Other scholarship offers: Five, including Louisville, Arizona and Ball State

Ranking: Rated a three-star recruit by and No. 75 on the junior college postseason top 100; Rated a three-star prospect by

Indiana depth chart at position: Senior-to-be Bernard Taylor, redshirt sophomore Dan Feeney, redshirt sophomore Wes Rogers, redshirt junior Jake Reed

Scouting report: You can never have enough ready-made offensive linemen in your recruiting class, and Herron definitely fits that mold. Already enrolled at Indiana after graduating from Iowa Western Community College in December, Herron has the size and bulk to contribute immediately along the offensive line. The guard position returns plenty of talent for a Hoosiers offense that was No. 17 in the country in scoring this past season. Herron has tackle experience and could move there if need be. Regardless, this is a player ready to contribute for Indiana immediately.
