Luers, Dwenger players earn Player of the Week honors

Foster, Winkeljohn won the online voting

In a week that had nearly 5,500 votes submitted to, Bishop Luers' J.J. Foster and Bishop Dwenger's Greta Winkeljohn earned the boys and girls prep basketball Fan Choice Player of the Week honors.

Foster scored 17 points including the winning basket at the buzzer against Bishop Dwenger on Friday night. The freshman received 1,103 votes to beat Dwenger's Grady Eifert, who finished second with 817 votes.

Other candidates were Chandler White of Carroll, Devlyn Williams of Snider, D.J. McCall of Concordia Lutheran and David Hardin of Leo. There were 2,379 votes in the boys poll.

In the girls poll, two players received more than 1,000 votes. Winkeljohn got 1,713 votes to beat Bishop Luers' Allison Butler, who got 1,157 votes. Winkeljohn, a junior, scored 24 points in a loss to Luers on Friday.

Other candidates were Joey Stanford of Wayne, Josie Fisher of Homestead, Kiersten Eley of Snider and Canterbury's Kindell Fincher. There were 3,083 votes in the girls poll.
