Woodlan was down 22 points to Leo in the first round of the ACACTournament, but found a way to win 83-76. The News-Sentinel spoke to Woodlan head coach David Randall following the comeback victory:

On the comeback

“The kids refuse to quit. I looked up at the scoreboard, I think withfive minutes to go in the second quarter and we're down 21 points, andI told them, 'We can't play much worse than this and we've got 21 minutes to back into this.' … I just, the way they (Leo) shoot the ball, you just have to hang in there, just stay in their face. If they make all their shots, nothing we can do. We hung in there, started getting rebounds, starting getting our shots on offense. What can I say, it's a big win for us because it's the tournament and because it's Leo. ”

On coming back despite Jaylin Bennett being on the bench with foul trouble:

“I'll tell you what, we're more than Jaylin. Jaylin's a fantastic ballplayer, Kadin (Gerig) is a fantastic ball player, but the fun thing about this, everybody I threw out there can say I had a part in that …I put on the board before the game '12 for 32,' 12 guys for 32 minutes, and I felt we had that today.”

On Bennett's 21 points in the second half:

“I still think he's the best rebounder in the conference. He's somebody who the other team has to account for every time. He gets the ball, he has three guys draped on him, he's getting pushed, he's getting hit and that opens up things for other people.”

On limiting turnovers after the slow start:

“We just slowed down a little bit. They (Leo) speed you up. You have to rip the ball through a little bit, and when we don't try to make maybe passes, make the sure pass. Just reversing the ball twice sometimes that's a great play. Second quarter we got to the rim a little bit more, jump stop, make the bounce pass and didn't try to throw it through people.”
