Purdue depth chart at position: Junior Paul Griggs, junior Thomas Meadows, redshirt junior San McCartney.

Scouting report: Purdue's kicking game was not exactly stellar a season ago, which should lead to McGehee getting a good shot at the starting position for placekicking and/or kickoffs. McGehee is one of the most highly-rated versatile kickers in this recruiting cycle, with proven experience in all facets of the kicking game, including punter. That could mean McGehee could get a solid chance at the punter spot as well. Purdue was just 6-of-12 on field goals last season, with just six touchbacks on 38 kickoff attempts. Those numbers have to improve for the Boilermakers to start turning things around. Could McGehee emerge as someone who could handle kickoff, placekicking and punting duties for Purdue? It is rare, but it can be done. But by a true freshman? That may be tough. If anything, McGehee will make the preseason position battles on special teams very interesting.
