Scouting report: A star player on one of the most prestigious high school teams in all of talent-laden Texas, Blankenship is a great get out of the state as he chose Notre Dame over Oklahoma in the end. A good frame with long arms and solid technique, Blankenship should hit the ground running when he arrives in South Bend in the summer. One of the hardest-working players around, he is a player who will frequently make plays on the back side after chasing a play all the way to the other side of the field. Does a good job at attacking blockers off the line and initiating contact, something that can be hard to do for a prep player. One thing that could hold Blankenship back from seeing playing time in his first season would be his strength. While a solid 252 pounds, he will have to put on some significant weight if he is going to see action along the defensive front in 2014.
