Scouting report: Indiana has added some top-flight talent on the offensive side of the ball, but there is not a single bigger land this recruiting cycle for the Hoosiers than Scales. A linebacker out of talent-rich Colerain High School in The Queen City, Scales is the type of BCS-conference caliber linebacker that Indiana needs to make a habit of getting. Coach Kevin Wilson stayed on Scales throughout the process, never allowing him to really get away from Bloomington. Scales likely projects as a weakside linebacker for the Hoosiers and brings a wealth of positives to a defense that desperately needs talent. In his film, Scales shows the ability to shake off blocks and make plays in the open field, as well as being able to identify plays quickly and close on the ball handler with astounding speed. He is a hard hitter who drives through ball carriers when tackling them and wraps up efficiently. This is a huge land for the Hoosiers.
