Sunday, February 2, 2014 - 8:17 pm

IPFW women’s basketball guard Amanda Hyde has been named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team. It is the second straight year that Hyde has been named to the Academic All-District team.

Hyde entered the weekend as one of only four players in Division I women’s basketball to average 20.0 points and 4.5 assists per game. She currently leads the Mastodons, who are 11-10 overall and 4-3 in the Summit League, with 22.0 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per game and 4.6 assists per game. Following the ‘Dons weekend series, Hyde sits eighth all-time in IPFW history with 1,467 career points, which also ranks 23rd all-time in Summit League history.

The Academic All-District award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combine performances athletically and in the classroom. Teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United State and Canada. To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at their current institution and be nominated by their sports information director.

Hyde advances to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot where first, second, and third team All-America honorees will be selected later this month. A year ago, the senior guard earned Capital One Academic All-America Second Team honors, was named the NACDA I-AAA Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was The Summit League's Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
