Kohne has been exemplary student-athlete for Cougars

Monday, February 3, 2014 - 12:01 am

University of Saint Francis senior Scott Kohne has earned a lot of recognition since he arrived on campus out of Bishop Dwenger High School four springs ago. His latest honor was being selected to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-American College Division District 2 Team.

The 6-foot-7 center is a business major with a 3.31 grade-point average, who also is averaging 16.8 points per game for the ninth-ranked Cougars.

His scoring average ranks 12th in the Crossroads League, while Kohne is 24th in the nation in total rebounds (195) and 27th in defensive rebounds per game (5.9).

Kohne scored 21 points in Saint Francis' 81-80 loss to 11th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday to move in to 12th place on the Cougar career scoring list with 1,444 points.

This is Kohne’s first selection to the District 2 Team.

Kohne is now eligible for consideration for the 2013-14 national Capital One Academic All-American Team.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America program honors highest achieving student-athletes for combined academic and athletic success across all divisions of intercollegiate athletics. Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale).
