FRANKLIN, Ind. (AP) — Authorities in central Indiana say a man fatally shot his ex-girlfriend and wounded three others, then killed himself a short time later as police officers approached him.

Franklin Police Chief Tim O'Sullivan says the attack happened Monday night at a home in a subdivision of the southern Indianapolis suburb.

O'Sullivan says the attack stemmed from a domestic dispute and left a 19-year-old woman dead. Police didn't immediately say how seriously the other three people were wounded.

Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox says the man's car was spotted in a rural area a couple miles outside Franklin. He says that as deputies approached the car the man shot himself with a rifle.

The names of those involved weren't immediately released.
