Dear Little Turtle Family:
I feel so blessed to consider all of us as a community of learners that more importantly supports each other.
As some of you might know, I was diagnosed with breast cancer last spring. When I heard the news, I went through a cycle of emotions. My strong faith, family, my students and the community pulled me though surgery, chemotherapy and the mental wear and tear of such a fearful diagnosis.
While I was undergoing treatment I experienced nights where my head would just not turn off with conversations I had heard or feared, with anxiety, with ideas. All along I kept hearing a higher power say make something good out of this, so here it is.
As I continue to heal, I am constantly reminded of all the people who are touched by cancer. We are asking each of you to help us support Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana and the American Cancer Society with a special event on March 8. We are planning a wonderful positive afternoon for the entire family. We will have a carnival, baskets and prizes in a lottery, a silent auction, snacks and a concert.
How can you help us? If you are a Pampered Chef consultant or any kind of consultant, a photographer, a masseuse, a beautician or barber, offer a service locally or are crafty or have a product that you are willing to donate please submit your idea to Mrs. Fudge. Miss Shively, Mrs. Scott or Mrs. Toll at Little Turtle.
We currently have a wall mural, a piece of furniture, a Y membership, baked goods and wreathe donated. We need all submissions by Feb. 17. You also can help by supporting and enjoying Charging Against Cancer on March 8 at our Little Turtle Carnival, concert, raffle.
