Wednesday, February 12, 2014 - 10:03 pm

The Mad Ants followed one of their worst shooting nights with one of their best. Predictably, they got back on the winning track.

Fort Wayne shot 50.6 percent from the field and hit 16 of 28 three-pointers (57.1 percent) en route to beating the Bakersfield Jam 118-103 on Wednesday at Memorial Coliseum. The Ants had made only 30 percent of their shots in a blowout loss at Canton on Sunday.

Fort Wayne improves to 18-13 and will return to action against Sioux Falls at 7 p.m. Thursday at the coliseum.

Tony Mitchell, last year's NBA Development League Rookie of the Year, led the Ants with 25 points. He hit 5-of-6 three pointers. D-League All-Star Ron Howard added 20 points with six assists.

The Ants also got strong play from NBA-assigned players. The Indiana Pacers' Orlando Johnson scored 23 points with five rebounds and three assists. The Detroit Pistons' Peyton Siva scored 16 with seven assists and three steals. The Pistons' Tony Mitchell led the team with eight rebounds.

All three players will return to their NBA teams Thursday.

Trey McKinney-Jones was the other Mad Ants player in double figures with 12 points.

James Nunnally scored 43 points for Bakersfield (12-20).
