A discussion on whether to give $600,000 in Legacy money to Fort Wayne International Airport has been removed from City Council's Tuesday night agenda.

Council members were discuss Mayor Tom Henry's support of a plan intended to link the airport to a Northeast hub. Airport officials want the city to contribute up to $600,000 over two years into a proposed $2 million reserve that would provide a guaranteed minimum level of income to an airline that would provide the desired service to the East Coast - something the resolution introduced last week contends "is essential to the economic vitality of northeast Indiana."

The $71 million Legacy fund was created through the sale of the old City Light electric utility. Appointees for suggestions to distributing the Legacy dollars made economic development a general area while creating specific goals of downtown and riverfront development, youth sports and higher education.
