IU's Vonleh out for Ohio State game

Freshman sidelined by inflamed foot

Sunday, March 2, 2014 - 3:47 pm

BLOOMINGTON – Indiana just took a big basketball hit.

Freshman forward Noah Vonleh is out for today’s game with No. 22 Ohio State.

Coach Tom Crean tweeted about a half hour before tipoff that Vonleh wouldn’t play because of an inflamed foot.

Vonleh had started every game. He averages 11.6 points and a Big Ten-leading 9.1 rebounds. He played 26 minutes last Thursday against Iowa, totaling four points and five rebounds.

Without Vonleh the Hoosiers lack much of an inside presence. There is 6-9 Hanner Perea, 6-8 Jeremy Hollowell and 6-7 Devin Davis.

Hollowell, who has played point guard as well as small forward this season, is set to start in place of Vonleh.
