Housing applications sought

Fort Wayne Housing Authority announced the opening of the Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list (previously known as “Section 8”). FWHA will accept applications for the waiting list 9 a.m. March 12 until 4 p.m. March 14. Applications will be accepted at the FWHA website: www.fwha.org. Applications may be picked up 9 a.m.-5 p.m. March 12, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. March 13 and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. March 14 at 7315 Hanna St. and 2020 S. Anthony Blvd. Applications may be dropped off at the two locations or mailed to Fort Wayne Housing Authority, Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List, PO Box 13489, Fort Wayne, IN 46869-3489. Easter Seals Arc receives grant

Easter Seals Arc of Northeast Indiana announced it was awarded a Big Read grant from Arts Midwest and the National Endowment of the Arts. The Big Read is a program of the National Endowment for the Arts designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture. Projects include weekly reading classes for ESA clients led by Ivy Tech Community College October-May; a visual arts display at the Fort Wayne Public Library; a multimedia performance piece presented in collaboration with the Jesters at four venues (April 12 at Fort Wayne Dance Collective, 10-11:30 a.m. April 16 at Weisser Park Elementary School, May 10 at Memorial Coliseum and 6 p.m. May 19 at Ivy Tech Community College); and 10 community discussions (7-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 and 25, April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, and May 5 at Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza. Another community discussion takes place 1:30-2:30 p.m. March 20 at Ivy Tech, Carroll Hall, Room LB443, 3701 Dean Drive).

Guardianship forum

A guardianship forum takes place 6-7:30 p.m. May 7 at Allen County Public Library, 900 Library Plaza, Room A. The educational forum, for parents and caregivers, explains guardianships in relation to special needs and provide local resources for assistance. Free admission and no reservations are required. YLNI given grant

Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana has received a grant from the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne through the Knight Foundation Fund, providing foundational support to host the next iteration of the My City Summit. My City Summit: Connect & Thrive is an evening designed for both prominent and aspiring community leaders to explore their roles in building stronger connections in our city while discussing important issues such as crime, economic development, inclusion and diversity, in order to form a thriving community.

Teachers receive supply packs

The Cellular Connection has donated school supply packs to 3,500 teachers across the country, including 10 preselected teachers locally who received their packs Feb. 23.

Nonprofit receives $20,000 grant

The Lutheran Foundation provided Christian Community Health Care with a $20,000 matching grant. All services are free of charge by a volunteer staff for residents in northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. Volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to assist staff in monitoring the entrance and exit vestibules of the upcoming butterfly exhibit at Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, 1100 S.
