Lawton Park can benefit from dollars donated by shoppers at Macy’s now through the end of March. The Fort Wayne Department of Parks and Recreation announced that the National Recreation and Park Association is joining with Macy’s in a matching-donation program to support local parks. The Fort Wayne Macy’s, located in Glenbrook Square, chose Lawton Park to benefit from the local fundraising.

From now until March 31, customers will be able to make donations of $1 or more when making a purchase at the Fort Wayne Macy’s store. Macy’s will match the first $250,000 raised, dollar-for-dollar, and all the proceeds will go to into a fund for Lawton Park. Macy’s customers do not need to make a purchase in order to make a donation, and customers may request a form at the store that will document the donation for tax deductibility purposes.

Funds raised from Macy’s and its customers will be used for future improvements to Kid’s Crossing Playground at Lawton, which is located between Science Central and Headwaters Park.
