Students who competed in the Fort Wayne Museum of Art regional won a record 51 medals during national judging for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program, the museum announced Tuesday.
The medal total ranks the Fort Wayne regional fourth among the 115 regionals nationwide, the news release said. This is the seventh consecutive year the museum’s regional has been ranked among the Top 10 regionals, based on total number of national awards.
Students competing in the Fort Wayne regional won 47 national awards in 2013 and 30 in 2012.
The success also earned the museum a national award last year, the Gold Key for Excellence in the Field, for its organization and hosting of the regional Scholastic competition.
The Fort Wayne Museum of Art regional Scholastic competition is open to middle and high school students. Art entries came from students at schools in 13 Indiana counties and 13 Ohio counties. The writing competition includes students from schools in 39 Indiana counties and 13 Ohio counties.
