Letter to the editor: Letter writer didn't prove that God exists

Tuesday, April 15, 2014 - 12:01 am

In his letter, “Proving God exists,” Richard W. Burridge didn’t prove that god exists. He used the term “faith” twice, but faith is not sufficient evidence to prove that a god exists.

Faith is a belief without evidence. Dr. Peter Boghossian writes that “if a person had sufficient evidence to warrant a belief in a particular claim, then they wouldn’t believe the claim on the basis of faith. Faith is a word one uses when they don’t have enough evidence to justify holding a belief, but when they just go ahead and believe anyway.”

Burridge demonstrated no empirical evidence of a Christian god.
