The Cougars played their Spring Game on Friday

Saturday, April 26, 2014 - 9:49 am

Saint Francis had plenty of new faces get their first taste of action in the annual Blue and Black game. In the end it was the Black team who came out ahead 20-6. The Cougars head coach Kevin Donley spoke to reporters following the game:

On the play of the running backs:

“Well, I think we're strong on the offensive line. We've got a couplenew people on the defensive line, but I think (Jason) Nicodemus is sostrong. (Aaron) Harris has had a great spring.”

On the play of the quarterbacks:

“These guys had to learn the whole offense in the spring in 10practices, so its like not even being through the first week oftwo-a-days, so it's a lot of learning for them. I think they camealong real well. We threw a lot at them, and they've got somepotential.”

On the speed of the defense:

“We run well, we've got some kids that can fly. I'm looking forward to a new class coming in and seeing how much they can contribute, but I think we'll compete well.”

On the spring overall:

“You know when you knock down 20 some seniors and you start springball with 80 guys, when you get into the season looking at 100 to 125 guys, it's a different way to practice, different way to do things. We adjusted and the kids got a lot of work.”

On the things to work on heading to the summer workouts and fall:

“Well, you know, this next week we as coaches, we will be meeting and going through film, discussing every position, personnel and anythingwe want to do in terms of moving people around. We'll look at thingswe're capable of doing well and maybe things we don't. Spring is atime to experiment with people and schematics and we did that.”
