You can't be in two places at the same time, and that's why the Grass Roots and Buckinghams won't be performing as announced Aug. 2 at Foellinger Outdoor Theatre in Franke Park.
Mitch Sheppard, manager of the theater and Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory for the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department, learned shortly after the Foellinger summer concert series was announced in early April that it "appears the Buckinghams double-booked" performances on that date, Natalie Eggeman, the parks department's public information officer, said in an email.
The parks department had a combined contract including both bands, so the show had to be canceled, Eggeman said.
The concert series begins May 18 with a free performance by the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Youth Symphony and Concert Orchestra. It ends with Los Lobos on Sept. 27.
Highlights include the Guess Who on June 6, REO Speedwagon on June 24, Foreigner on July 12 and Styx on Aug. 16.
Concert tickets are on sale now www.foellingertheatre.org and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays at 427-6000 or in the Fort Wayne Parks office, 705 E. State Blvd. Tickets also are available 6-10 p.m. on concert days at the Foellinger Theatre box office in person or at 427-6715.
This summer, the theater also will offer free showings of several current family-friendly movies.
