The News-Sentinel called the 12 percent turnout for the May 6 primary pathetic. One way to increase primary voting is to do like they did in Fishers this year. They held their city elections this year with the county and state elections. In Allen County, that would make more races interesting since Fort Wayne city elections draw more Democratic candidates, which would give more reason to select a Democratic ballot.

Another obvious benefit is the money that would be saved by not having to hold separate elections just for cities. And finally, we would not have to look at campaign signs on every street corner in odd-numbered years. If Hamilton County can hold city, county and state elections together, why can’t Allen County?
