A 37-acre shopping center on Diebold Road near Union Chapel road won Allen County Plan Commission approval Thursday despite objections of neighbors who fear it will create congestion, noise and other problems. GJHL Properties LLC's Providence Place will include about 76,000 square feet of retail space plus five out lots.

An even larger nearby project, the proposed 164,000-square-foot Center at Union Chapel, also drew opposition at a public hearing earlier this month and could be the subject of a vote next month.
