Recent Concordia Lutheran High School athlete Symone Black has added another title to her recent IHSAA Track State Championships won earlier this month. She is now also the recipient of the Gatorade Indiana Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year it was announced Thursday.
“Symone is as talented as she is humble,” Cadet coach Quinton Dixie said in a release. “She's competitive and hard working, but has a strong sense of balance in her life. She's been a joy to work with.”
Black won both the 300-meter and 100-meter high hurdles events at the state finals in Bloomington. Her 300-meter time of 41.36 seconds was a meet record and ranked eighth nationally.
The Purdue recruit had already been named Ms. Indiana Track and Field by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches.
Off of the track, she is also worthy of recognition.
Black maintained a 3.15 GPA at Concordia and has been active in both her church and community in several charitable endeavors.
