Isn't it time you gave up your unbridled faith in government?

Thursday, June 26, 2014 - 12:01 am

Liberals often talk about government as if it is God. They sound as if they think it is all-knowing, all-kind, all-powerful and all-good.

Events of the last few months should challenge those of unbridled faith in the state. The VA health care scandal of abuses that resulted in many veterans’ deaths was epidemic and systemic.

In 2008, Barack Obama said he would “make the VA a leader of national health care reform so that veterans get the best care possible.” With the rollout of Obamacare and Obama’s idea of “the best care possible,” Americans now have an idea of what a U.S. single-payer system will look like.

While the government is leaving vets to die waiting for medical care, U.S.-funded terrorists are overthrowing the U.S.-installed government in Iraq.

After $2 trillion, 4,486 U.S. service members dead and countless more wounded, Iraq is coming apart due to the advance of ISIS, a Sunni Muslim terrorist group that got its start fighting in Syria. For three years the U.S. has funded Sunni terrorist groups fighting to overthrow the government of Syria, and now one of those groups has turned on the U.S.-sponsored government of Iraq.

In a twist that would be comical if it wasn’t so pathetic, the U.S. may be turning to Iran to help them save the government of Iraq. To further make a mockery of the idea of government sanity, let alone competency, the U.S. is still funding Sunni terrorist groups in Syria today.

As the blood and treasure invested into Iraq are undone, the nation’s real national security issue gets almost no media coverage. The Obama regime has been giving bus tickets to underage illegal immigrants from Central America who arrive by themselves so they can be reunited with parents who are already here illegally.

The children are given a future court date to appear, which is of course ignored.

This de facto amnesty has spawned tens, perhaps hundreds, of thousands of children braving the journey across the border. Of course, some of these children die in the journey, but the regime clearly thinks it is a small price to pay for so many future Democrat voters.

Meanwhile, the IRS is claiming it lost critical emails relating to the illegal persecution of dissident groups critical of the regime. This is a government not only hateful to those who disagree with it, but which no longer has the slightest regard for the law.

Through mass surveillance, the militarizing of the local police and loss of any constitutional restraints that hold totalitarianism at bay, the government’s power over the people grows daily. Given how this regime operates, this should alarm anyone who still yearns for liberty and freedom.

Alas, none of this will shake the orthodoxy of those who worship government.

They will rejoice as ever-greater tyranny arrives because their total fealty to government has nothing to do with reason. It is driven by a sense of identity. They believe good, compassionate people always blindly support more government.

No amount of proof of government’s duplicity, dishonesty and downright evil will ever make them question their dogma.
