The Fort Wayne Fire Department spent 40 minutes trying to get a blaze in a home at 3530 Kirkland Ave. under control Tuesday.
Upon arrival at 11:20 a.m. crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the home's roof area. Crews went inside and found heavy fire throughout the attic area of the house. Firefighters called for the insulation extractor and remained at the scene to ensure all fire and hotspots were extinguished. The fire was under control by noon.
The house is vacant and had a "for sale" sign in the yard. No injuries were reported. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
