The death of an inmate found hanging inside the Allen County Jail has been ruled a suicide by the county coroner's office.
Preliminary autopsy results Monday morning indicate that Robert Stanley Tyrrell, 48, committed suicide, according to the coroner's office.
Tyrrell was found hanging in his jail cell at around 8 p.m. Sunday. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at around 8:30 p.m.
Tyrrell had been jailed since late May for violating probation for not returning from a work release program. He had been convicted of drug dealing, according to a WANE-TV news report.
Tyrrell's death remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff's Department and the coroner's office.
