Ritz had earlier filed a lawsuit against the board members. As incredible as it was, a judge ruled that she could not file the lawsuit without approval from the state attorney’s office. That would be Attorney General Greg Zoeller. The judge didn’t even consider the merits of the lawsuit. Nor did Zoeller. The case should have been heard on its merits.
The Ritz fiasco is 100 percent on the back of tea party Republican Mike Pence, Indiana’s part-time governor. Nobody else. Pence can fly to Germany just to tell the Germans they need missile shields in their backyards. He can fly to Great Britain for an air show. Yet he can’t seem to find the time to sit down and meet with Ritz to discuss improvements on education.
Do we need two boards of education in Indiana? Do we need two governors? Do we need two mayors in each city? Do we need two General Assemblies? Do we need two state fairs? Do we need two Lucas Oil Stadiums? Do we need two Statehouses?
The Ritz fiasco has gone on too long. Enough is enough. It is time to clean this mess up. The first order of business is to get rid of the Center for Education and Career Innovation. The second is for Pence to step up and resign as governor of Indiana. We need a full-time governor, one who is capable and willing to work with others for the betterment of our state. And right now we don’t have that in Indiana.
