Briefs: Jury Pool closing, Red Cedar fundraiser

With most of its staff and patrons heading back to school next week Jury Pool in New Haven will suspend daily operation after this weekend. The pool will be open daily 12:30-8 p.m. through Sunday and noon-7 p.m. Aug. 16, 17, 23 and 24, weather permitting. Any questions, call the park office at 749-2212 or Jury pool at 245-0152.Camp Red Cedar invites the public to enjoy horse-drawn wagon rides, a petting zoo, pony rides and other activities during its annual Showdeo Family Fun Night fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the camp, 3900 Hursh Road. Admission is free but some activities have a fee that raises money for camper scholarships for the 2015 summer season.

Other activities include a bounce house, boat rides around the lake, a campfire and s’mores, arts and crafts, field games, and a live DJ playing music. There also will be a silent auction, and refreshments will be for sale.

Camp Red Cedar seeks to help children and adults with disabilities exceed their boundaries through recreational activities, outdoor education, creative arts and interaction with horses. The camp also serves people of all abilities. For more information, go to www.campredcedar.com.
