(This letter is in regard to) the last two letters to the editor by Philip Reifenrath printed in The News-Sentinel.On Aug. 13, he cited a new study by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Response to Terrorism by the University of Maryland for the Department of Homeland Security that concluded, “The greatest terrorist threat to America isn’t radical Muslims — it’s right wing radical groups right here in the United States.”

That’s indisputable truth to Reifenrath.

On Aug. 21, he cited a report of the Southern Poverty Law Center that hate and anti-government groups have grown exponentially in response to the election of the first African-American president. “This shows that racism does exist in America, and it appears to be getting worse.”

That’s indisputable truth to Reifenrath.

These letters suggest to me their writer is out of touch with reality, that he feeds off political sewage from the left and is mentally malnourished. He writes well enough, but what he writes indicates the need for a broader diet of healthier foods. I think he has potential, and I wish him well in his efforts to grow.
