Through early Sunday afternoon, a 1935 Duesenberg Model SJ Dual Cowl Phaeton held the unofficial title of vehicle sold for the highest bid; the Duesenberg fetched a $1.265 million offer on Saturday, Christie said. Official numbers will be released sometime this week.
Auctions America has a new television deal with NBC Sports Network, also known as NBCSN, that went into effect earlier this year. That meant that this year's auction was televised, live and via tape delay, across the nation. Auction America's parent company, RM, signed the deal, so auction events in other venues were televised earlier this year, which possibly served to help increase interest in this year's event in Auburn, as well.
