I would like to thank organizers of the Thanksgiving Day Galloping Gobbler for a great race through Lindenwood Cemetery. As a New York resident who recently completed the New York City Marathon, I ran the Gobbler while visiting family. I grew up in Fort Wayne, but I don’t remember theme races for all athletic levels, including back-of-the-pack athletes like myself.

The Gobbler impressed me, from the tech fiber T-shirt to the orderly number pickup at the University of Saint Francis. Mostly, I liked seeing families moving together on a stunning course.

I started running races three years ago. Despite tough economic times, I always felt strong at the finish line, no matter the speed or distance.

Earlier this month, I ran my first marathon, and I can still hear cheers from the crowd, which are with me forever.

I can easily visualize a Fort Wayne marathon. I look forward to that day.
