Add some toughness with rookie

Wednesday, August 19, 2015 01:14 pm
The Fort Wayne Komets announced three exhibition games for training camp on Wednesday. They'll start with a road game on Oct. 7 at Indianapolis and then play home games against Evansville on Oct. 9 and Oct. 10. The game in Indianapolis will not be open to the public.

Training camp opens officially on Oct. 5, and the Komets are expecting up to 30 players — approximately 17 forwards, 10 defensemen and three or four goaltenders — to participate. There are currently 22 players on the preseason roster with Wednesday's addition of rookie forward Reid Halabi. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound right wing earned 181 penalty minutes in 57 games last year for Chicoutimi of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League while scoring three goals and eight points.

The regular season opens Oct. 16 at Kalamazoo before the home opener Oct. 17 against Kalamazoo. The gametime for the Oct. 16 contest has been changed from the originally announced 7 p.m. face-off to 7:30 p.m.
