♦Nominations sought: The Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the 2009 Annual Meeting Awards for CEO, Employee, Small and Large Business of the Year. Members of the Chamber who meet the following criteria are eligible: Small and large businesses that have contributed to the community, maintain a reputation for integrity and fair-usiness practice and demonstrate product or management innovation; CEOs who have made unique contributions to their business, employees and the Fort Wayne community as a whole; and employees who serve as positive role models in the workplace and demonstrate exceptional dedication to advancing the interests of their organization. ♦International Association of Administrative Professionals TAWASI Chapter will meet at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 20 at University of Saint Francis, 2701 Spring St., Pope John Paul II Center, Room 204. Topic will be “The 17 Essential Qualities of a Team Player,” by John C. Maxwell, presented by Mia Gutridge, secretary,Indiana Division of the International Association of Administrative Professionals. Nonmembers are welcome. ♦Resume workshops, presented by the Huntington University Enterprise Resource Center in collaboration with Coffee D'Vine, will host four resume workshops for displaced workers or those who need assistance updating their resumes. All workshops are held at Coffee D'Vine, 44 Vine St., Huntington. The workshops will be: 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 15; 4-6 p.m. Oct. 21; 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 29; and 4-6 p.m. Nov. 4. The workshops are free, but participants must preregister by calling the Enterprise Resource Center, 1-260-359-4104.

♦2009 Honors Seminar, “The Paradox of Affluence: Choices, Challenges and Consequences,” will be 6-8 p.m. Oct. 19 at IPFW's Walb Student Union, Room 222-226, presented by Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and the National Collegiate Honors Council. Speaker will be Ray Suarez, former host of NPR's “Talk of the Nation.” There will be a panel discussion with Mitch Harper, 4th District City Councilman; Kenneth White Jr., Allen County Libertarian Party representative; Frederick Hasecke, senior pastor, Trinity English Lutheran Church; Hedayeh Samavati, IPFW professor of economics; and Jeff Scherer, IVY Tech vice president of student government. The event is free and open to the public. Upcoming events in the seminar series will feature Jessica Jackley on Nov. 9 and Ralph Nader on Nov. 16.


♦SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) will meet at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 20 at Indiana Tech University Abbott Bldg., 1600 E.
