♦The Great Recession of 2008-2009, a lecture by Professor Bradley R. Schiller of the University of Nevada, Reno, will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast, 3800 N. Anthony Blvd. in the auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public.

♦Work Opportunity
Tax Credit Clinic, presented by Blue Jacket Inc. and the Indiana Department of Workforce Development for prospective employers will be 3-4 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Ivy Tech Community College-Northeast Student Life Center. Workforce Development will educate employers about the Federal Fidelity Bond, free honesty bonding for a $5,000 policy per candidate that employers hire through Blue Jacket, a company that provides the tools and opportunities to adult ex-offenders to be productive members of society. ♦Staying Open for Business: Plan Ahead for an Unforeseen Business Disruption, sponsored by the Public Safety Academy and its educational partners Indiana Tech, IPFW, Ivy Tech and Trine University, will be 8 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Public Safety Academy, Southtown Centre, 7602 Patriot Crossing. Keynote speaker will be Dan Arnold, president of Capital Strategies Group. Sessions will be held on hardware/software examination, disaster planning and employee safety, and business continuity with an IT perspective. The sessions are followed by lunch and a wrap-up.
