Three Christian comics aim to give audiences “hope in the world and hope in God.”
Fort Wayne residents will have the opportunity to see a few of the Christian comedians who have collaborated on the Comedy Bus DVDs on Saturday at First Assembly of God Christian Center.
The brainchild of Mike Williams, the Comedy Bus gathers the nation's best Christian comedians onto one stage. One comedian, Rich Praytor, spoke with us by telephone from his home in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Praytor said 20 Christian comedians gathered together as the Comedy Bus to complete a collection of four DVDs — “Laugh Out Loud,” “Class Clowns,” “Cracked Up” and “Laugh Tracks.”
They also tour across the nation in smaller groups to promote clean comedy, as well as to encourage people to buy the DVDs.
On Saturday, Praytor will be joined by Scott Davis and Kenn Kington.
Davis has appeared with Mark Lowry and has written comedy for Lowry, as well as appeared on “The Mark and Kathy Show.”
Kington is the creator of Ultimate Comedy Theater and has appeared on Comedy Central.
Praytor also thought John Branyan might appear since he lives in Kokomo. Each will perform 25-30 minutes before introducing the next comedian.
“We want them (audiences) to feel refreshed and rejuvenated,” Praytor said. “The world has its problems. We give them hope in the world and hope in God.”
Praytor said he looks forward to performing with the Comedy Bus comedians.
“It's a chance for all of us to get together. We hang out with great friends. The show is great to see our peers perform,” he said.
Praytor said he keeps busy by performing about 70 shows a year, though not all are related to the Comedy Bus. He has appeared on “America's Funniest Home Videos,” Comedy Central, radio shows and received the 2003 American Gospel Music Award for Best Comedian of the Year.
He also said he's working on a feature film project he's pitching to major distributors.
