Taste of Home Cooking school draws crowd
Reader Cookbook Contest winners also were announced at event sponsored by Fort Wayne Newspapers.
From staff reports

About 1,200 people attended the Taste of Home Cooking School sponsored by Fort Wayne Newspapers on Tuesday night at the Grand Wayne Convention Center.

People attending had a chance to look over 50 vendor booths showing and selling some of the latest kitchen equipment and gadgets.

Dana Elliott, a culinary specialist for Taste of Home magazine, also demonstrated how to make “Festive in a Flash” recipes for the holiday season. The admission fee included a copy of the current issue of Taste of Home, which features the recipes Elliott demonstrated along with many more.

At the show, Fort Wayne Newspapers announced the winners of its third annual Reader Cookbook Contest.

About 300 people entered the contest. Their recipes — including those of the winners — appear in a Reader Cookbook Contest special section in today's News-Sentinel and Journal Gazette newspapers.

Reader Cookbook Contest winners are:

♦Grand prize: Linda Stemen, crabmeat stuffed tilapia

♦Breakfast: Amy Gonzagowski, breakfast casserole

♦Appetizers: Connie Goll, pub dip

♦Main Dish: Linda Stemen, crabmeat stuffed tilapia

♦Desserts: Donna Achenbach, chocolate truffle toffee cheesecake

Stemen also won the Grand Prize and the Desserts category in 2008.
