To the Ranter who complained about his doctor “getting another Mercedes”: Why don't you try going through eight years of medical school, being saddled with student loan debt and then having to pay sky-high malpractice insurance rates?

Someone doesn't like that the working man has to pay for the unemployed for health care. Just pray you don't become unemployed, or anyone dear to you. My husband and I are retired and live on a fixed income. … Count your blessings and don't begrudge someone else health care.

They shut down a school because of illness and then had the building cleaned. But the picture of the people cleaning showed the cleaners weren't even wearing gloves, so everything they touched they can spread elsewhere.

How to keep pigeons off the buildings? I keep plastic snakes on my roof. I never have any trouble with pigeons. The county might try that.

Why did the Democrat cross the road? To tax the chicken.

Your local police officers are overworked, underpaid, underappreciated and — quite frankly — fed up with this entire (city) administration and their lack of ability to put real leaders in place.

I have an idea! Let's switch the teaching staff at North Side High School with that of Homestead High School, and South Side High School teachers with the teachers at Carroll High School. (We will see if) the teachers are the problem or … lack of expectations in the home.

In my neighborhood, I drive past a “Kids Dart, Drive Smart” sign every night after work. And wouldn't you know it, I also have to drive through a group of unsupervised neighborhood kids playing in the street instead of in their backyards. Maybe the parents should be smarter, not the drivers.

It's very irritating to see … (some) farmers… taking up two lanes of traffic, with … no plates, no stickers, but I have to have plates to move my boat two miles each year.

Our mayor comes from a very large family. So, yes, some of his relatives do own local businesses. But his relatives did not run out and start a business when he became our mayor. The Henry family was not handed anything. They worked hard to become outstanding citizens.

I think it stinks that the spotlight fell upon the Homestead girls soccer team in the regional match when it was the Carroll girls who won. Also a shame that parents have to act like spoiled kids not getting their way during the game.
