Local folks are ‘principal for day'
of The News-Sentinel

Lawyers and other professionals, including a dentist, entered Fort Wayne Community Schools buildings Wednesday morning to be Principal for a Day.

For many, such as Jill McAllister, from Community Health Improvement at Parkview Health, this was their first time experiencing life as a principal.

“Many adults haven't been in a school since they were a child and don't realize how much education has changed,” Superintendent Wendy Robinson said in a news release. “This is a great opportunity to show what goes on in our buildings and what the role of principals really is.”

At Forest Park Elementary School, McAllister read to a few classrooms and then was given a tour and an explanation of programs at the school. At the end of the morning, the participants were treated to lunch at Barr Street Café, where Anthis Career Center students prepared the meal.
