Maxim Medical relocates

CHURUBUSCO — Maxim Medical Services, currently in LaOtto, says it will move its distribution and headquarters and 51 jobs to Allen County. The company is a medical equipment provider and says in a news release it will invest $1.6 million to begin operations at 12632 U.S. 33 in Churubusco, just inside the Allen County line.

“We look forward to the opportunity to assume operations in Allen County,” Operations Manager Paul Larson said in the news release. “Allen County, as the crossroads of America, is the perfect location for our headquarters and base of operations.” The project is scheduled for completion in 2012.

State wins $4M ‘green' grant

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana has won a $4 million federal grant to lead an effort with Michigan and Ohio to help laid-off autoworkers find jobs in the renewable-energy industry and related occupations.

The U.S. Department of Labor awarded the grant Wednesday to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development as part of $55 million in green-jobs grants announced nationwide.

Home-building sector uncertain

WASHINGTON - Uncertainty over whether a homebuyer tax credit would be extended weighed down construction last month - a sign of how much the recovery depends on government support. Home building unexpectedly plunged to its lowest point since April, the Commerce Department said Wednesday. The figures show that builders fear there aren't enough buyers for unsold homes already on the market.
