North Manchester will hold an all-community food drive Saturday to benefit the North Manchester Fellowship Food Pantry. Nonperishable and household items will be collected door-to-door by volunteers 10 a.m.-noon Saturday.
Hunters asked for meat donationsFarmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry has set a goal this year of providing more than 50,000 pounds of meat to organizations that help families needing assistance. Hunters can donate a deer, elk or buffalo to a participating butcher, who will process and package the meet into family-size packages. There is no charge to the hunter, who will be entered into a contest to win a muzzleloader worth $700. For more information or a list of participating butchers, go to www.fhfhin6.org.
Food delivery cancellation schedule
Community Harvest Food Bank, 999 E. Tillman Road, will be closed Nov. 27-28 for the Thanksgiving holiday. There will be no Farm Wagon distributions on those days. Cancellation guidelines for the Farm Wagon:
♦No deliveries if the outdoor temperature, actual or with the wind-chill factor, at 7:30 a.m. in Fort Wayne is 10 degrees F. or less;
♦No deliveries if there is a snow or ice emergency in the city or county of the Farm Wagon delivery area; or if there's a snow or ice emergency declared in Fort Wayne or Allen County.
The food bank will try to have the cancellation announced on all media outlets.
Kingdom Door Christian Worship Center is accepting donations to provide Thanksgiving dinner to the needy. The meal will be served at the Pontiac Mall, 1108 E. Pontiac St. The church is accepting donations of food and paper products and needs volunteers to help prepare, serve and deliver food. Call Sharonda at 399-0729 or Marnette at 449-9744. Donations will be accepted at Mattie Mae's Café in the Pontiac Mall.
