Students honor U.S. veterans

Even though Veterans Day was last week, Northrop High School took time out Thursday to honor the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces during its third annual Veterans Day Celebration.

The event featured Kasey Carr (pictured above), an Iraqi War veteran and 2002 Northrop graduate, who spoke about her experiences while serving. The event also included recognition of any veterans in attendance, and a presentation by Vietnam veteran Walt Cook, a social studies teacher at Northrop.

Northrop senior Shaneequa Cook (pictured at right) also sang the national anthem at the start of the celebration with the help of members of Concordia High School's JROTC, who posted the colors.
