6 more deaths in state from H1N1
of The News-Sentinel

Six more Indiana swine flu deaths were reported last week, even as the number of people hospitalized with flu symptoms continued to drop.

Among those who died was a Huntington County resident who died in October. Lab results had not confirmed that this person had H1N1 until recently, according to the Huntington County Department of Health.

Six confirmed H1N1 deaths were reported in the week that ended Saturday, bringing the total number of swine flu deaths to 28 since June 1.

State health department medical director Joan Duwve says the deaths are a stark reminder that swine flu is still a problem. She's urging people to get the vaccine.

In Allen County, the Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health noted that children under the age of 10 need two doses of the H1N1 vaccine, four weeks apart, to be fully protected. Only H1N1 injectable vaccine is available at this time.
