Volleyball all-state honors

Concordia Lutheran volleyball coach Trish Miller led a list of nine area recipients in the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association's all-state honors.

Miller, who led the Cadets to a regional championship berth and a 30-9 record this season, was announced the 2009-2010 North Coach of the Year for Class 3A.

Concordia's Katelyn Hockemeyer and Canterbury's Tabitha Gerardot were both named to the Academic All-State Team.

Several local players also made the Academic All-State Honorable Mention list, including Hannah Dodson of Churubusco, Allison Colligan of Bishop Dwenger, Jorae Bradbury of Concordia Lutheran, and Elena Schmidt and Taylor Chin of Homestead.

Heisman Trophy in city Monday

The Heisman Trophy is celebrated as the most important award in college football. The trophy will make a stop in Fort Wayne 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday at Fort Wayne Nissan at 4909 Lima Road. Free pictures with the trophy and food will be available.

TinCaps store at Glenbrook

The Fort Wayne TinCaps will open a team store at Glenbrook Square for the holiday season beginning today. TinCaps fans can purchase team gear at the store. The location will be near Macy's and open during mall hours through Dec. 27. The Parkview Field location is also open throughout the holiday season 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
