We asked you to turn your cameras on the splendors of the fall season, and you delivered some amazing photos for our “Scenes of Autumn” photo contest.
The photos had to be taken this fall and could include fall foliage, Halloween, harvest and any other images showing the change of seasons. We received more than 125 entries.
Chief Photographer Brian Tombaugh of The News-Sentinel judged the entries, looking for the best photo based on image composition, lighting and overall quality.
The winner is Dan Vorndran, 51, of Fort Wayne, who entered a photo of a colorful tree leaning over Cedar Creek at Metea County Park. Vorndran said he had to scramble down along the stream bank to get the photo. He wins a $50 gift card to a local MyMenu store.
“It has really nice composition and nice subject matter,” Tombaugh said of the winning photo. “In addition to being a pretty fall tree, it is a unique tree in that it is pretty and falling into the water. It has multiple characteristics going for it.”
You can see the winning photo on this page, along with some of Tombaugh's other favorites. Additional photos appear inside today's section on Page 4N.
Congratulations, Dan! And thanks to all who shared their beautiful photos.
