Seven members of Concordia Lutheran High School boy’s basketball team traveled to Australia last month to compete in the Down Under Sports Basketball Tournament and the Cadets represented the program well with strong play.
“This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the boys,” Cadet coach Tim Reinking said in a release. “They worked hard and represented Concordia well. I am very proud of them.”
After 18 months of fundraising, the group traveled to the Gold Coast from July 8 through 16 with goals of experiencing another culture and playing basketball. After learning a different set of rules, the team played nine games against teams from the United States and Australia. They won eight and lost one before clinching the tournament title.
