Parker “has been the best volunteer: dependable, informed and eager to take on whatever was needed to promote health and well-being in this community," Ruffolo said.
Parker also is a great friend, remembering people's birthdays and anniversaries, Ruffolo said.
Whatever you are doing with Parker, it is fun, Ruffolo added.
"This quality permeates all of her activities, be it fundraising, sitting on a board, making scholarship decisions or visiting friends," she said. "It is one of the important, defining qualities making Pat Parker so unique.”
At the news conference, Kathleen Jackson, Tapestry project manager, also announced the event has raised more than $536,000 since its start in 2002, the news release said. Thirty-seven students have received scholarships, Jackson said, and she expects about $40,000 in scholarships will be awarded this year.
