HUNTINGTON — The No. 2-ranked Bishop Dwenger gymnastics team is heading to state on a hot streak. The Saints scored a season-high 111.65 on Friday night to easily pace the field at the Huntington North Regional. Homestead continued its surprising return to state by beating No. 15 Carroll 103.90 to 103.65 for second place.The defending state champion Saints were paced by junior Kati Linvill who won the beam, bars and floor and finished second on the vault to build a winning 38.125 all-around total. Teammate Kaitlyn Coffee won the vault.
Unranked Homestead was paced by Morgan Hardwick's third-place finish in the all-around with a 35.475. She was also second on the bars and on the beam. Teammate Taylor Ross was fourth on the vault.
Only the top two teams and top six individuals in each event advance to the March 16 state meet at Ball State.
