For beating girlfriend to death with baseball bat, man gets 50 years

A 50-year prison term is the price a Fort Wayne man will pay for beating his girlfriend in the head with a baseball bat so badly that she died eight days later. Anthony Ochs, 40, pleaded guilty in Allen Superior Court last month to a single count of voluntary manslaughter in the April 21 death of 42-year-old Susan Jeanine Lombardi, who was beaten April 13 in her home. Work on $1.5 million Arts United theater could start next month

A little later than planned, construction of a $1.5 million addition to the Auer Center for Arts and Culture could begin as early as next month. Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne, which owns the building at 300 E. On the day that the Allen County Coroner's Office declared a Fort Wayne teen the city's latest homicide, the NAACP delivered a heartfelt plea to the community's young people and others to stop the violence in the city.
