Remembering April Marie Tinsley

Friday, April 5, 2013 - 8:08 am

Colorful balloons floated into the Fort Wayne sky Thursday afternoon to remember the killing of 8-year-old April Marie Tinsley. Tinsley's parents organized the event at Parkview Field, and in their hometown in Central City, Ky., to remember April, who disappeared April 1, 1988, from a Fort Wayne neighborhood street and was found dead three days later. Her killer has never been found, though police have participated in “America's Most Wanted” shows to profile the case and taunting messages believed to be from the killer have been released to the public in hopes of finding him. While the simultaneous events were planned for 4:30 p.m. Thursday, children participating in Fort Wayne got a little antsy, so organizers began the launch early. The Tinsley family maintains a Facebook page dedicated to April, one that wished her a happy 33rd birthday on March 17.
